How I was introduced to CrossFit: A friend showed me a picture of one of his crossfit workouts and he was doing a Farmer’s Carry and looked yoked…I thought: I want to look like that. I still don’t look like that, but I aspire.
If I never had to do this one exercise ever again, I would be awesome: Devil’s Press…Cuz why, Mark?
If I had to makeup my own WOD, it would be: AMRAP of OHS, Over-the-Bar Burpees, and Bar MUs…5 Bar MU, 10 OHS and 10ish burpees…for 10 ish minutes.
Tell us a little about yourself (family, job, hobbies, etc) : I’m a cautionary tale…I have 5 kids, so don’t look at me if you’re ovulating. But my kids are incredible and I love them to death. I’m in the Air Force…I could tell you what I do, but then I’d have to kill you. I wear a flight suit and aviator sunglasses to look like a pilot, and I actually think I look better than most pilots do…but that’s like saying a Penguin flies better than an Eagle, so. Other than Crossfit, most of my hobbies have fallen to the way-side due to the aforementioned 5 children…
My proudest accomplishment is (doesn’t have to be CF related): Definitely have to be being a dad. Everything I’ve done has led to me wanting and loving to be my children’s dad…so whatever I had once been proud of I don’t really think about because it really does pale in comparison to just trying to be a good and fair father.
My favorite cheat/ indulgence- meal/food is: Cinnamon Toast Crunch…we let the kids have it. And sometimes I let me have it.
What is your favorite music to workout to?: Anything Miley Cyrus. Or whatever the coaches put on…it’s never country music.
What I love about Bear Canyon Crossfit: I actually really love everything about Bear Canyon. The coaches, the equipment, the people…the community is SO incredible. I honestly tell people all the time (and I’m not just saying this to get a discount) that they should join the gym because it is such a positive and uplifting environment. Crossfit is cool and you get a great workout, but by far the biggest impact is the comradery and the enthusiasm from the crew that you’re working out with. I’m constantly impressed by the Bear Canyon members and the coaches and it’s 90% of the reason I keep coming back. If you’re wondering about the other 10%, it’s for the Abs…
