How were you first introduced to CrossFit?
My BFF Kellie Lewis invited me to a SWEAT class and I went. I had just had a baby so I needed the extra encouragement! However, it wasn’t until 6 months later that Kellie’s sister, Jessie Hunt encouraged me to go back!! After that, I have been hooked ever since!
If you never had to do this exercise again, it would be awesome.
It is hard to choose just one!! Long distance running, as in anything more than a 400 m!! I have tried really, really hard to love it but the more I try the more I am thankful for cars, trucks, and horses!!
If I had to make up my own WOD, it would be?
I LOVE kettle bells so the WOD would mainly consist of KB snatches, turkish get-ups and heavy deadlifts! There would be little to no cardio. There would MAYBE be box jumps! And lots of ab variations!
Tell us a little about yourself (family, job, hobbies, etc)
I grew up in Albuquerque then I moved to Colorado when I was 19 years old. It was in Colorado where I met the dreamiest farm boy named Andrew! We got married 12 years ago and now have 5 beautiful daughters!! When I am not homeschooling or helping my husband run our Construction Company, you can find me volunteering at church, hiking a trail, or laughing till I cry with my friends. We are a big camping family, so much that we took our 6 day old on a 10 day camping trip,… yes in a tent!
I love empowering others to meet their goals and live their life to the fullest. To remind others that life will get hard but remember, you can do hard things!! That is a daily conversation I have with my girls, to not quit, dust yourself off and get back to it! Encouraging others is where I feel most alive!!
My proudest accomplishment is ( doesn’t have to be CrossFit related).
Raising strong, confident, kind, little women! They are the legacy that I am leaving behind so I do my best to raise them the best that I can. And when I fail, I try to show them what humility looks like and learning/growing from our mistakes!
My favorite cheat/ indulgence meal food is?
Fully loaded Nachos. I am talking shredded chicken and cheese, spicy salsa, sour cream, guacamole, tomatoes, lettuce, tortillas chip, etc,
I am salivating just writing this!!
What you love about Bear Canyon CrossFit?
Hands down the community!! I started BCCF because I wanted to get in shape and spend time with my besties, Kellie, Kristina, and Jessie. I stayed because I love the ladies (and gentlemen) in the SWEAT class! I was hesitant to start CrossFit, however the encouragement from the coaches and making new CF friends has made the CrossFit transition so easy! I am really thankful for the BCCF family!!
