VAL:

I was introduced to CrossFit in July of 2017. I went with Sydney George to a Saturday class. I remember I was wearing shorts and we had to do rope climbs, haha! Dom was coaching and I had a blast. I started to drop in and I even went to CrossFit classes when I was in Delaware for my Dietetic Internship.
If I never had to do barbell snatches, life would be awesome!

My WOD would include running, burpees, DB OH walking lunges and devils press

4 rounds for time

400 meter run

20 devils press

20 walking lunges

20 burpees

That’s sounds like hell, hahaha
I grew up here in ABQ. I went to La Cueva HS then to college at UNM, where I double majored in Exercise Science and Nutrition. After I graduated, I completed a distance Dietetic Internship with the University of Delaware. I went there for a week, which was a great experience, and was able to complete my rotations here in ABQ. I work in Preventive Health at Sandia National Laboratories as a Registered Dietitian, personal trainer and health educator. I started as a student intern and now work full time. I’ve been at SNL for 6.5 years and absolutely love it! I am now getting my Masters in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine at the University of Western States. Tim and I love to take CF classes together, go on little trips and walk our puppy Bullett. We just finished putting in a gym in our garage! Its great to do what you love with the person you love! Tim and I will be getting married this September and we are so excited!
My proudest accomplishment right now is keeping a 4.0 GPA while contributing to work full time and continue other responsibilities.
My biggest accomplishment at BCCF is deadlifting 200#
My favorite meal is pizza, salad and red wine! We have this at least once a week.
I love to workout to early 2000’s, hip hop and EDM! Really anything that is fun to move to!
I love BCCF because of the community! Everyone is always so welcoming and I know I will always have fun there. Everyone at BCCF is so nice and cheerful. When I was doing the open workouts, people were awesome and cheering me on! I love it. I love how clean and organized BCCF is, too!
I would tell my friend or family member that CrossFit is so much fun and very functional! You can start where you are and do what works for you! The coaches are great at explaining movements and working with you to improve skill and performance.
BCCF has been great during Covid! We were able to do the zoom workouts and borrow equipment at the beginning, which was a lifesaver. You guys did a great job at adapting. When we were finally able to go back to the gym, BCCF saved my sanity because I was able to 1) move my body and 2) see everyone and get that sense of community back!
