How I was introduced to CrossFit:
In 2009 wanted to get fit so I decided to try a class at Crossfit Rio. I couldn’t finish warmup on 1st day. Failure was not an option for me so I kept going back to workout and eventually it became a habit. Here I’m 12 years later and still nervous before every single WOD.
If I never had to do this one exercise ever again, It would be awesome: Burpees !!!
If I had to makeup my own WOD, it would be:
4 Rounds 25 Sit-up’s with pvc, 25 Pass thrus, 25 Knees to Elbows, 25 GHD Sit-up’s, 250m Row.
Tell us a little about yourself (family, job, hobbies, etc) :
Originally from India & have been living in Albuquerque for 29 years. Graduated from UNM and work in hospitality industry (own/manage hotels). Married for 21 years to my beautiful wife Purvi and both of us have two teenage boys. Love to travel and I’m workaholic.
My proudest accomplishment is (doesn’t have to be CF related): Getting Fit. It changed my perspective for everything in life.
What has been your biggest accomplishment at Bear Canyon?
Learning new techniques/skills on Olympic lifts, proper nutrition, and surviving through Amy’s Sweat class ☺
My favorite cheat/ indulgence- meal/food is: Cheese Pizza with Coke and ice cream for dessert.
What is your favorite music to workout to?: Any kind of music that is loud, fast and not repetitive.
What I love about Bear Canyon Crossfit: The Coaches & members at BCCF are great. All coaches at BCCF devote a lot of time on techniques, training and safety.
What would you tell a friend who wanted to try CrossFit?
Most of my friends are scared or intimidated by Crossfit so I try to convince them that everything is scalable. The feeling after one class is invaluable.
How has BCCF helped you during the Covid?
Workout’s felt like I was in a meditation class at BCCF. Help me stay positive and maintain good mental health.
