How I was introduced to CrossFit:

I started CrossFit when I was living in Indiana attending grad school. I realized that I needed a change in my routine and needed to get healthier. I had a friend back home who had suggested I try CrossFit, so I went to the closest CF box and tried a class. I remember the WOD vividly: 4 rounds of 400 m run and 15 power cleans. I struggled and was the last to finish…but I also signed up for a membership right after that. The rest is history!

If I never had to do this one exercise ever again, I would be awesome:

Power Snatches

If I had to makeup my own WOD, it would be: Something with power cleans, wall balls and pull ups

Tell us a little about yourself (family, job, hobbies, etc):

I work at a nanobiotechnology company that is working on an early cancer detection platform. In school I studied mechanisms of breast cancer metastasis, and I’m extremely passionate about finding new cancer treatment and detection modalities. I have a wonderful fiance named Craig and we’re gearing up for our wedding in June. Our furbaby is one of the best things in my life. He’s a cuddly 100 lb rotweiller/chocolate mix named Sarge. In my spare time I love to go hiking and backpacking and love to fish as well.

My proudest accomplishment is (doesn’t have to be CF related):

Graduating with my Master’s degree. But second to that – I took a 27 mile backpacking trip through Montana last summer and that was a huge accomplishment for me.

My favorite cheat meal/food is:

Its hard to choose one…I love ice cream and brownies and I will go to the ends of the earth to get a good Reuben.

What is your favorite song to workout to?:

Anything Carly plays usually does the trick

What I love about Bear Canyon Crossfit: BCCF is my home away from home. The support, love and laughs at BCCF are irreplaceable and truly something special.
